What we do

Astun Technology's iShare data integration and publishing platform enables public sector organisations such as  Local Authorities and Blue Light services to make the most of their own data, extracting it, transforming it and publishing it both internally and externally. It can serve call centres via systems integration and citizens via the web with a rich mix of information and maps while delivering real savings through 'Channel Shift' and transactional services. iShare also provides a direct communications channel to citizens that subscribe to its automated 'My Alerts' service.

Easily configured and completely automated iShare is a unique mix of the Astun's own purpose built modules and the best Open Source components. In use with over thirty local authorities the award winning iShare platform continues to evolve to meet growing e-services needs.

UPDATE - My Protected Trees E-mail

Just in - James Rutter, GIS Manager at Surrey Heath has just informed us that the application is getting on average 100 searches per day which has resulted in time savings for the council Tree Officer - real Gershan efficiency savings!

Link to the online application A UK first - iShareMaps is powering surreyheath.gov.uk enabling residents to self serve and find out if they have any Tree Preservation Orders against their property.

The application provides is a simple interface for members of the public which by simply entering their address allows a full Land Parcel boundary search against the Tree Preservation Orders database, Conservation Areas and also historic planning applications dating back to 2000.

The key to the success of this application has been the implementation of iShareMaps within the existing infrastructure at Surrey Heath with no additional hardware being required.  Data as accessed from an Oracle Spatial database through Data Share, processed and made ready for public viewing ensruing that the solution is as fast as possible without impacting back office systems.

Systems integrated are:

  • Lagan Frontline CRM for internal access by the call centre
  • Extracts of the Local Land and Property Gazetteer maintained through PlanTech
  • Use of data maintained through CadCorp technologies and stored in Oracle Spatial
  • Fully integrated with the web site Content Management System from Tagish

Other points to note are that all address searches are logged and emailed to both the Tree Preservation Officer for analysis and the GIS Manager for recording of PAF usage.  The TPO officer now has the ability to be able to map where searches are taking place.

Residents also have the option of having a PDF automatically generated and saved to their computer of their search for future reference.
