Expertise in Front End web technologies using XHTML/CSS/JavaScript and conforming the W3C standards is part of what you do. The use of XML and XSL is also a plus. You will be developing full blown applications for both Intranet and Internet use and maximizing JavaScript technologies such as JSON etc via AJAX.  We use Prototype.js and therefore experience with JS frameworks such as  ExtJS, JQuery, Dojo or similar is a plus along with general CSS, XHTML etc.  Development will often be with some mapping element.

This position plays a key role in the software development and continued success of the iShare data integration and publishing platform. Our solution is in use at over 20 Local Authority and Police websites.

The principle functions involved in this role include:

• Developing web based mapping solutions
• Front end development with an eye for detail and web design skills
• Assisting with the Quality Assurance testing of software, prior to release to customers
• Helping our technical writer produce product-related material to assist customers in the effective operation of the system.
• Dealing with specific queries regarding the functionality of the company’s products and how they may best be used to fulfil objectives.

 Technical functions

• Strong Object Orientated skills JavaScript skills
• Building of web pages including XHTML, CSS conforming to W3C Standards
• Understanding of databases and the building of web API’s often in a RESTful manner
• Cross Browser and extensive DOM knowledge
• Testing - Systems / Unit (NUNIT etc.) and also with JavaScript, HTML

Training will be given plus this position could also open the door to other areas in sales or development.
